Map of Perlman Place
Overview
In 2023, Mount Sinai Beth Israel (MSBI) intends to sell two of the properties in Community District Six (CD6) — 1 and 10 Nathan Perlman Place — as part of the hospital system’s “downtown transformation” efforts to right-size its medical services and support for New York City residents. Faced with roughly $350 million in operating shortfall over the last four years, MSBI seeks to downsize its overall operations by reducing the number of in-patient beds and increasing specialization across facilities.
MSBI has supported CD6 for decades, providing residents with access to world-renowned healthcare just past their doorstep. We, Manhattan Community Board 6 (CB6), want to ensure that MSBI’s anticipated sales strengthen the community district and maintain the parcels as a community asset, just as valued as they are today.
We need your support to envision what is possible and create a plan that will be best for our community.
CB6 is embarking on a comprehensive community visioning process to elevate resident priorities for the community district and implications for a profitable, community-based sale with MSBI. As one of our neighbors, we need your help to ensure this work is representative and inclusive.
